Application Timeline

1. Complete the ACCOMAS application.
   • All prospective students must first apply with the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine Application Services (AACOMAS). AACOMAS offers a convenient experience for those interested in applying to schools of osteopathic medicine. Users can select all their desired programs, then submit one application along with all general required materials. AACOMAS then verifies the application for accuracy and sends it with the appropriate materials to the user’s chosen schools of osteopathic medicine.
   • KansasCOM applicants are encouraged to begin the application process a year prior to their anticipated matriculation. Students are admitted on a rolling basis.
2. Complete the secondary application.
   Upon review of your AACOMAS application, KansasCOM will invite qualified applicants to complete our secondary application online. Secondary application requirements include:
   • Two letters of recommendation (If you submitted through AACOMAS, we will download letters to your KansasCOM file.)
     • One letter from a pre-med adviser or committee; may substitute with a letter from a science faculty member
     • One letter from a physician (DO or MD)
   • Additional letters may be submitted on your behalf in addition to the required letters.
   • Letters must be dated within two years of anticipated matriculation year (i.e., if starting classes in fall 2026, your letters of recommendation must be dated no earlier than January 2024).
     • Letters should be written on official letterhead when possible, and must include the recommender’s signature and professional credentials.
3. Complete your interview with KansasCOM.
   All interviews at KansasCOM are conducted virtually. Qualified applicants will be invited by email to register for an upcoming interview day. All communication, including the interview invitation, will be sent to the email address listed on your AACOMAS application. The invitation will include specific instructions for registering and attending a virtual interview day. Interview days include two one-on-one interviews, a faculty panel, and general information sessions. Interviews begin in the fall and conclude in May.
   
4. Receive your admissions decision.
   Admissions decisions are released on a rolling basis and are sent via email within four to six weeks of the interview date, depending on holidays. Occasionally, decisions may be released earlier than the stated timeframe.

Admission to KansasCOM is competitive. Applicants are required to have obtained a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, submit Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) scores no more than three years old, and have completed prerequisite coursework in biochemistry, biology, general and organic chemistry, physics, social/behavioral sciences and English literature or composition. Additionally, health care experience, technical proficiency standards, and two letters of recommendation are required.
