Licensure

Licensure for the practice of osteopathic medicine is granted on a state-by-state basis. Graduation from a fully accredited college of osteopathic medicine is one of the basic requirements for licensure as an osteopathic physician in all 50 states. The Kansas Health Science University – Kansas College of Osteopathic Medicine (KHSU-KansasCOM) has been granted Accreditation with Warning by the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA), operating under authority granted to it by the U.S. Department of Education, to offer an academic program leading to the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.

The KansasCOM Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine program meets the educational requirements for licensure as an osteopathic physician in the following states, district, and U.S. territories: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming; the American Samoa, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, the Virgin Islands, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, and the Republic of Palau.
