Our Academic Vision

To prepare for the future of medicine, medical professionals must be trained as problem-solvers and critical thinkers. These future leaders will need to have a deep understanding of emerging technologies, health systems, entrepreneurship, diversity principles, and ethics. At the Kansas College of Osteopathic Medicine, we have threaded these topics throughout our curriculum.

KansasCOM aims to be instrumental in helping to increase health care resources for underserved communities across Kansas and beyond. Our graduates will be prepared to lead the next generation of osteopathic health care professionals in compassionate and integrated health care practice, able to address the needs of diverse communities everywhere.

At KansasCOM, We Aim To:

Medical Caduceus

Believe in the body’s interconnected ability to work within itself to heal and remain committed to the osteopathic approach in medical education.

DNA Ribbon

Teach the art and science of medical care so students can evolve with technology and commit to being lifelong learners, preparing them for the future of health care.

Stethoscope

Engage students in case-based patient presentation models to train them as effective problem-solvers, not just fixers.

handshake

Foster a spirit of collaboration to ensure students excel in collaborative learning and keep the focus on the patient, not themselves.

hands holding heart

Support students in a “culture of care” as they work toward their careers through servant leadership opportunities at community-based organizations.

Encourage students to embrace diverse perspectives to foster community-focused and more equitable care to all populations.
