-
Dr. Angela Carrick is a Kansas native. She moved to Oklahoma for her undergraduate training at Oklahoma State University where she earned her Bachelors of Science in Human Nutrition. The subjects of nutrition, health, and fitness have always been an interest of hers and are closely related to her interest in living an active, vegan lifestyle.
She attended medical school at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences and ultimately decided to pursue a career in emergency medicine. Dr. Carrick graduated from residency from Integris Southwest Emergency Medicine Residency and took an attending job at Norman Regional Hospital (NRH) in Norman, Oklahoma. It was there she remained planted for 12 years and discovered her passion for medical education.
Dr. Carrick served as the NRH Emergency Medicine Residency Associate Program Director and advocated for physician wellness through creating the program's annual residency retreat, lecturing locally and as an invited guest nationally on physician suicide and physician wellness. She was appointed chair of National Physician Suicide Awareness Day which occurs yearly on September 17 by the Council of Residency Directors Resilience Committee. While working at Norman Regional Dr. Carrick served as Co-Director of the NRH Stroke program. Dr. Carrick is Chair of the American College of Osteopathic Emergency Physician's (ACOEP) Women's Committee and holds Fellow status within ACOEP as well as the American College of Emergency Physicians. She is a strong proponent of students and residents and regularly serves as a panelist in American Academy of Emergency Physician's Osteopathic Student Mentorship series. When she isn't saving lives and educating doctors, Dr. Carrick is enjoying cooking, traveling, watching movies, and spending time with her 3 adorable sons.
