Dr. Hu received his Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from Soochow University, Taipei, Taiwan. He then received Master of Science and PhD degrees in Molecular Genetics from The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship and served on the research faculty at Howard Hughes Medical Institute, McKusick-Nathans Institute of Genetic Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Hu worked as Assistant and Associate Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of New Mexico School of Medicine, Albuquerque, New Mexico. He is now Professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences, Kansas College of Osteopathic Medicine (KansasCOM), Kansas Health Science Center (KHSC), Wichita, Kansas. Dr. Hu has conducted both education and research in biomedical sciences, has formed several grant-funded, transdisciplinary collaborative teams, and has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters in cancer, atherosclerosis and end-stage kidney disease. He was awarded 3 times by the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) as a "Minority-Serving Institute Faculty Scholar." Dr. Hu is committed to educate and mentor the next generation of compassionate, ethical, and skillful physicians and health care leaders, and to continue conducting education-oriented research in Kansas.
