Greetings!
After completing my Ph.D. in organic chemistry, I joined the chemistry faculty at Newman University in 1987. Over the ensuing 35 years, I taught many of the courses in the chemistry curriculum, including general, inorganic, analytical, bio-organic, and biochemistry. Unsurprisingly, my favorite class was the organic chemistry sequence. I have been blessed to work with hundreds of bright and hard-working students who have gone on to become chemists, researchers, and, of course, physicians, dentists, and veterinarians. In addition to teaching, I served the institution in a variety of administrative capacities, including Assessment Director, Dean of Arts and Sciences, and Associate Provost. I have consulted with many colleges and universities across the United States as a Peer Reviewer for the Higher Learning Commission, and I have worked with hundreds of regional high school science teachers, providing training and hands-on access to a variety of chemical instrumentation.
My research interests have focused on educational endeavors. I have published three textbooks and nearly thirty papers/presentations. Chemistry and Physics for Nurse Anesthesia (Springer) is used by many Nurse Anesthesia programs across the country. I have assisted several local and national chemical facilities as a chemical consultant.
It's been a terrific and fulfilling three-and-a-half decades, but I am excited by the opportunity to be a part of the Kansas College of Osteopathic Medicine. I look forward to working with you as we strive to optimize the health of patients and their communities.
