I joined the Kansas College of Osteopathic Medicine in July of 2023 as a physiologist after teaching for 29 years at Kansas City University's College of Osteopathic Medicine and College of Biosciences. I've taught most areas of physiology, but am especially fond of neurophysiology and cardiopulmonary physiology. I believe strongly in reaching the students where they are in their ability to apply physiology and helping them move to the point where their understanding of physiology is so engrained that they "forget" that the physiology is the basis for much of their clinical understanding. In the past, I was the Director of the Simulation program at KCU - KC campus and integrated a series of high-fidelity simulations into the KCU undergraduate medical curriculum in 2006. I have earned certification as a Healthcare Simulation Educator and continued to be interested in using simulation to support/reinforce the students as they move beyond knowing physiology and other foundational sciences to applying them to their clinical experiences.
