Mini Biography: Born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware. Life beyond the classroom - family and hiking, climbing (New Hampshire, New York, Alaska, Colorado, France, Scotland) walking our two dogs, cooking, reflecting on how best to educate future physicians. Author of 137 peer-reviewed research publications, 24 chapters.

Visiting Research Scientist- Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden, 1982-1983. I spent a sabbatical year in Stockholm, Sweden, working at the Department of Physiological Chemistry of the Karolinska Institute, with the leading researchers investigating lipid mediators of inflammation and thrombosis - the family of prostaglandins, thromboxanes and leukotrienes, including (now) Professor Jesper Haeggstrom, M.D. and Professor Bengt Samuelsson, M.D. who received the Nobel Prize for Physiology and Medicine in 1982.
