Biography

Dr. Kimberly Long is a ranked full professor of psychology who has served as an higher education dean and administrator and faculty member for regionally accredited institutions in the US for nearly 20 years. She has served as a peer-reviewer for the Higher Learning Commission since 2014, and in 2019 was selected to become a chair (team leader) for the Higher Learning Commission peer reviewer corps.

Prior to her service at KansasCOM, she served as the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Newman University in Wichita, Kansas. Newman University is a regional private-sector leader in natural science, pre-medical, and health science education. She also previously served for 8 years as the Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs at the University of Mary, another regional private-sector leader in natural and health science education located in Bismarck, North Dakota.

She has overseen a number of health science programs including: athletic training (BS), exercise science (BS), kinesiology (BS), massage therapy (AS), medical transcription (AAS), medical coding (AAS), medical laboratory science (AS), nursing (DNP, MSN [FNP, Nurse Administrator, and Nurse Educator], and BSN), nurse anesthesia (CRNA/MS), occupational therapy (OTD and MSOT), occupational therapy assistant (AS), physical therapy (DPT), radiologic technology (BS and AS), respiratory care (MS, BS, and AS), and sonography (BS). She has supervised programs accredited by CCNE, COA, CoARC, ACOTE, NAACLS, and CAPTE among others.

She served for 8 years as chair of the University of Mary's IRB, and served as faculty teaching research methods and statistics for many programs including graduate nursing and graduate occupational therapy. She was a member of the accreditation team who successfully was granted the Doctor of Nursing Practice from HLC at a prior institution, and served as research faculty in that program. She also oversaw the successful accreditation for Newman University's first Doctoral Programs, including Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice (DNAP) and Doctor of Business Administration (DBA).

Her management portfolio has included oversight of assessment, accreditation, academic and student support services (retention, tutoring, counseling, etc.), general education, undergraduate and graduate studies, sponsored academic research, university compliance, institutional research, data management, business intelligence, enterprise-wide information technology, telecommunications, instructional technology, instructional design, the registrar's office, academic legal affairs, Title IX, online pedagogy, university-wide strategic planning, and library services.
