I started my nursing career in cardiology on the telemetry unit after graduation. I moved into the ICU for the next couple of years. When there was an opening for someone with clinical experience to work in a local private practice's research department, I made the leap out of bedside nursing. After a year at the practice, an opportunity presented itself to create my own clinical trial management company. In 2000, I started the Professional Research Network of Kansas; an independent, stand-alone clinical trial site. Over the course of the next 25 years, I worked with area physicians, clinics, hospitals and other service providers to execute multi-centered clinical trials in all therapeutic areas, with the exception of oncology. In 2021, PRN of Kansas joined forces with the Alliance for Multispecialty Research, a site management organization with over 30 sites nationwide.
In 2019, Dr. Dickerman asked me to consult with the KSHC in developing a practice-based research network (PBRN) for the Kansas College of Medicine. I developed a Steering Committee, mission/vision and Advisory Board to help ready our PBRN, the Kansas Education and Research Network (KERN), for when the school had matriculated students.
In 2024, I joined the staff of Kansas COM full-time.
I enjoy walking, reading and yoga in my spare time. I have a wonderful, supportive husband and 2 amazing kids to hang out with as well.
