Safety Guidelines

KansasCOM strives to provide a campus environment that is safe and secure for all students, faculty, and staff. Campus safety and security is a community-wide effort and responsibility. Students’ awareness of all policies and procedures is considered essential to campus security.

Inclement weather

Inclement weather can impact our campus, especially during tornado season. All inclement weather announcements will be made using the KansasCOM Rave Mobile Safety application, which sends emails and optional texts in case of an emergency or school closing due to weather. All students, staff, and faculty are expected to follow protocol to comply with official inclement weather safety instructions during the event of an emergency.

Annual Campus Security Report

As part of KHSU-KansasCOM’s commitment to safety and security on its campuses, and in compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (the “Clery Act”), our Annual Security Report (“ASR”) is published by October 1 annually. Enforced by the Department of Education, the Clery Act is a federal statute that requires all colleges and universities that participate in federal financial aid programs to keep and disclose information about crime on and near their respective campuses. The ASR also includes institutional policies concerning campus security, such as policies related to alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, reporting of crimes, emergency notification and timely warnings and the sexual misconduct policy, which addresses sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking. If you would like to request a paper copy of the Annual Security Report, please send an email to [email protected].
